Care & Cleaning

Does your favorite jewelry seem a little dull? Here are some jewelry cleaning tips to keep your jewelry sparking like new, year after year.

General Care Tips:

Household chemicals, such as chlorine bleach, can discolor or damage your jewelry mountings. Remove jewelry before coming in contact with harsh cleaners, playing sports, or gardening.  When storing jewelry, wrap each piece individually to keep it from scratching or being scratched by other pieces. Having your jewelry professionally cleaned once a year not only keeps your jewelry looking like new, but also alerts you to any needed repairs to keep your jewelry safe!

Cleaning Diamond Jewelry:

Diamond jewelry can be cleaned at home using a commercial jewelry cleaner available at Richardson Jewelers. Or, you can mix up your own using a mild detergent and warm water. Use a soft toothbrush — a baby’s toothbrush is a good option — to gently clean under and around the setting.

Dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
